Empire State Development (ESD) is New York’s chief economic development agency. The mission of Empire State Development is to promote a vigorous and growing state economy, encourage business investment and job creation, and support diverse, prosperous local economies across New York State through the efficient use of loans, grants, tax credits, real estate development, marketing and other forms of assistance. Global NY is a new initiative launched by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo that offers one stop shopping to both foreign businesses looking to invest in New York and to local businesses who want to export globally. It’s the latest innovation from the state that has been offering global trade and investment opportunities for over 400 years.
New York State ranked #2 among US states for number of FDI investments from China from 2000 to 2017, with 67 deals. Of these investments, 67 were Greenfield and 60 were M&A, with a total value of $15.7 billion. The most popular industry (by number of deals) for investment was Real Estate & Hospitality (51 deals, $12.095 billion total value), followed by Finance & Business Services (26 deals each, $3.169 billion) and Health& Bio $123 million respectively. New York State welcomes Chinese investment, and Empire State Development looks forward to supporting Chinese investors throughout the investment process.

The Michigan-China Innovation Center (MCIC) works on behalf of the State of Michigan government to manage Michigan’s China business development and relationships. MCIC’s mission is to promote business ties between Michigan and China.
MCIC provides free services directly to Chinese companies considering business in Michigan. MCIC provides free information, local introductions, and, in coordination with State of Michigan government, incentives support for Chinese businesses that are considering investing in Michigan.
